Small Grant Program (SGP) India

United Nation Development Program

The op-7 of the global environment facility (GEF) small grants programme in India (SGP India), aims to enable communities and organizations in some of the most vulnerable and least developed areas, by enhancing their socio-ecological resilience. The approach would focus on collective action through participatory landscape planning and integrated management approaches, to promote innovative livelihood options, thereby producing local and global environmental benefits. SGP India is being implemented by the United Nations development programme (UNDP), in partnership with the ministry of environment, forest and climate change. The energy and resources institute (TERI) is the national host institution (NHI) for coordinating and facilitating SGP in India.

Tribal Development Fund

The project "Kpersoh" under Tribal Development Fund with was funded by NABARD was implemented by Bosco Integrated Development Society (BIDS) at Laskein Block, West Jaintia Hills District Meghalaya. This project was implemented to empower the farmers of Laskein Block, West Jaintia Hills District in order to improve their socio-economic status in the household and community and also to enhance and increase their income through horticulture farm and cultivation of intercrop.

National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM) program as it is implemented in the Mawlai and Mawpat Block of the East Khasi Hills district in Meghalaya. The program aims to reduce rural poverty by empowering poor women through the creation of self-help groups (SHGs) and providing them access to financial and livelihood services

Mission Poverty Eradication

Mission Poverty Eradication is a 6 year Project that focuses on gathering information and showcasing the great work done by the Salesians of Don Bosco through schools, parishes, and livelihood programs. The goal is to help the poor and underprivileged move out of poverty. This mission covers the 12 Provinces under the SPCSA, South Asian Region. The area coverage under Shillong Province are Meghalaya, Tripura, Assam, and Mizoram. The target are the poor and the underprivileges.

STRENGTHENING & QUALITY EDUCATION IN THE LOWER PRIMARY SCHOOLS

Child Education

Strengthening & quality education in the lower primary schools (SQELPS) is an initiative spearhead by BIDS into upskill the education in the lower primary schools in 2 districts of Meghalaya - Eastern West Khasi Hills and East Jaintia Hills District for students of class I to V in LP Schools. The main objectives of this project is to Enhancement of students’ participation and involvement through activities based learning, Improve the quality of education service provision so that it would be conducive to quality learning and teaching and Help reduce repetition and dropout rates and improve the management of the education system for a more efficient utilization of sector resources.

10,000 young people improve their income and future opportunities through quality education. 6,000 young people find employment, 1,000 young people work independently and 500 young people start a small business across 3 states in North East- Meghalaya, Tripura and parts of Assam Barack Valley
