Risterjoy Synrem, a 27-year-old from Mynso in West Jaintia Hills, Meghalaya, faced uncertainty after failing her Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate (HSSLC) exams. However, in December 2023, she seized a new opportunity by enrolling in a three-month Baking Technician training program at Don Bosco Tech, Nongstoin, motivated by her interest in baking and the desire to support her family.
Throughout the training, Risterjoy learned essential baking techniques such as cake decoration, pastry making, bread baking, and managing a baking business. Equipped with these skills, she started her own cake and baking business in Mynso, initially operating from her home kitchen. Her delicious products and creative cake designs quickly gained popularity, building a loyal customer base through word-of-mouth.
Risterjoy's success not only improved her family's financial situation but also inspired other young women in her community to pursue vocational training and entrepreneurship.
